In the video, I go over my history with retail skates and my previous pairs of custom hockey skates. CCM got me scanned and sent this pair of custom skates to use and review, and after over a year of usage I am finally happy to comment on the fit and durability of them!

My biggest issues with custom skates in the past was durability, so I wanted to ensure I used these long enough where I would be confident they weren’t going to break down in a few months like previous skates I have worn. I am happy to report the only real signs of wear on these skates is the liners and on the tongues where they rub against each other.

I hesitated buying a pair of custom Bauer or CCM skates because of horror stories from personal experiences of people I directly knew and talked to. There were too many comments of “These aren’t really custom, it is just a retail shell stretched” or issues with overall fit that I couldn’t justify dropping the money on them to find out myself. Thankfully, somehow CCM decided to send me a pair for free so I could really test these out and see how they performed and fit. Needless to say I won’t have a need to get into another skate for A LONG time. After dialing the fit with different insoles and a thinner tongue, these have been the most comfortable custom skate I have ever worn and their durability has so far been unmatched. Watch the full video to see how I dialed in the fit and the adjustments I had to make with the stiffer boot.
