The changes made to the Vaughn SLR 4 hockey goalie pads have been towards stiffer and being more stable on the ice. When I custom ordered my SLR 3 (which I compare in this review), I wanted them considerably stiffer than the stock offerings but found they were still a very soft and flexible pad.
Vaughn has made a bunch of improvements, including one of my favourite pad features, a calf pillow! Watch the full review below to see how the SLR 4 pads stack up compared to my stiffened SLR 3 and to see if Vaughn finally truly offers a stiff off the shelf pad.
