I have been a huge fan of Bauer hockey goalie blockers for a while now, and have constantly give them praise for being the best rebounding blockers while also having excellent finger protection. The Bauer Supreme Shadow blocker has a few changes that push the blocker into a slightly new direction.
Thanks to Just Hockey (affiliate link) for lending me one of their Bauer Supreme Shadow sets including this blocker! Reviews and tests of the Bauer Shadow pads and Vapor 90 catching glove will also be available! Without Just Hockey’s (affiliate link) help these reviews and this content wouldn’t have happened. So make sure you check them our for your hockey equipment needs and let them know you came from Hockey Reviews!
Bauer has made a few changes on the Shadow blocker, most notably being the index finger protection on the sidewall, the hand positioning being more centered on the board, and the hand direction which forces specific stick position on the ice. Recently I have talked to a few goalie coaches who have been making note of blocker positioning and how the construction of the blocker can effect your stick positioning on the ice, the Shadow forces your hand onto the stick at a different angle than what you might be used to and is certainly different than previous Bauer blockers.
Make sure you check out the full review of the Bauer Supreme Shadow blocker. It has been the biggest change to Bauer Supreme blockers since the switch to the OD1n style of design with the 1S.
Once again huge thanks to Just Hockey (affiliate link), who made this review possible. Please be sure to let them know you appreciate these reviews and want to see more of them!
While I also hate to promote my other things, it has become evident to me it is important to get a viewer base that will help me continue doing reviews like this (I can’t afford to always buy new equipment!).
