Tage Thompson and Prostockhockeysticks have the NHL hardest shot at 104.69 mph

Tage Thompson currently has the NHL hardest shot in the NHL EDGE era, which is the NHL’s puck and player tracking. You can see the NHL’s announcement here.

Previously, Tage Thompson was a CCM athlete, specifically last year they were promoting his then hardest shot of 102.08 MPH shot on their page. You can see Thompson using a CCM HGJS gloves, FT4 Pro skates, and Tacks CCM AS2 Pro stick. The latter of which was now 5 generations old of a stick with CCM’s yearly stick releases. You can see CCM advertising their “Team CCM” athlete below.

Curiously… Thompson is no longer wearing all CCM this year and you don’t see the announcement of the newest hardest shot record. When you take a closer look at his equipment you can see why. Thompson went back to his Bauer Nexus (now called Pro Series at retail) 4 roll gloves, True skates, and a now pretty famously unbranded stick with a single colour on the underside.

Looking at the Buffalo Sabres’ Instagram post showing off Thompson and his hardest shot gives us more of a glimpse of the new unbranded stick that was used.

Now, eagled eyed gear heads know what this stick is, but I also compiled a bunch of photos from the Sabres’ Instagram account showing off this stick in more details…

If it still isn’t obvious, this stick is a prostockhockeysticks.com custom made and spec stick made for Thompson this year. Which isn’t the first time Geppetto has gotten NHLers slap shot kings using his gear. Last year (and continuing this year) we saw Ovechkin skate on the ice with a prostockhockeysticks custom stick as well, and you can see Ovechkin’s custom logo in this picture from the Capitals’ Instagram. While none of this has been confirmed by Geppetto, I am happy to make an educated guess at this point based on the underside graphics, custom player logos, lack of branding, and being the only small stick company that tailors to extreme stick nerds and professional players.

It is a pretty amazing feat Geppetto has managed to grab the chasing NHL all time goals scored record AND the current NHL hardest shot holder… but clearly he is doing something correct when the big brands (CCM specifically) have lost a few notable names in the last few years (don’t forget CCM also lost Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Duchene).

While I also hate to promote my other things, it has become evident to me it is important to get a viewer base that will help me continue doing reviews like this (I can’t afford to always buy new equipment!).
