I have a long history of CCM Trigger hockey sticks, and find that the launches come in waves. Every few years the overall stick declines, then the next year CCM fixes their mistake and comes out with one of their best sticks to date. It is one of the problems I find with CCM and their yearly stick release schedule which causes minor differences that aren’t worth creating a new stick release. Where does the CCM Trigger 9 Pro (affiliate link) stick fall?

The CCM Trigger 7 Pro was one of my (and still is) favourite hockey sticks to date. It had excellent balance and didn’t fall into the trap manufacturers often do of making the blade feel lighter to make the stick overall feel lighter. The Trigger 8 Pro was a step in the wrong direction, while also giving excellent puck feel and a solid quick release for shots. My CCM Trigger 9 pro hockey stick came in at 389 grams uncut in P29 85 flex configuration
CCM really has a fantastic stick in the Trigger 9 Pro (affiliate link), where the adjusted weight and balance return to a better less blade light feeling. They also improved on the textured grip and their Helicoid Industries carbon blade is even more dampened than previous models bringing excellent puck feel. While the shot performance has been slightly improved it isn’t the biggest upgrade.
While the Trigger 9 Pro stick is a solid stick from CCM, it makes it hard for me to recommend since CCM releases SO many sticks that it feels like the next model is only a few months away. While it is an upgrade over the 8 Pro, it isn’t a big enough jump to justify the ever increasing prices for the marginally better performance and tech.

While I also hate to promote my other things, it has become evident to me it is important to get a viewer base that will help me continue doing reviews like this (I can’t afford to always buy new equipment!).
