One of the most common questions I get asked when people are looking at and ordering custom True hockey goalie pads is specifically the different boot break angles. True has 2 different break options, the Regular 110° and Open 120° boot angles.

While I haven’t been able to wear the new set of L95 pads seen in this video and photos, you can compare how the 120° Open boot angle on the L95 pads (pink, white, and teal colour pads) sits compared to the 110° Regular boot angle on the PX4 pads (Coyotes colours).
I will have to wear the pads on ice side by side to compare how the different boot angles play. Once I am able to do so, I’ll make videos comparing them and update this post!
If this video and article helped you with getting a better idea on what boot option on your True hockey goalie pads to choose, it would be greatly appreciated if you helped support this channel by buying hockey equipment through these links (I get a kick back in sales) if you are in the US at Pure Hockey or if you are in Canada through Just Hockey. If this content was helpful, it would be greatly appreciated and helpful to Hockey Reviews if you let True Hockey and True Goalie on social media to let them know Hockey Reviews content is helpful and you want to see more of their product reviewed!
While I also hate to promote my other things, it has become evident to me it is important to get a viewer base that will help me continue doing reviews like this (I can’t afford to always buy new equipment!).

Hi Matt,
Love your reviews. Interested in hearing your thoughts on True open vs regular boot angle (i.e., pros and cons of each) now that you have worn both – and curious if it affects sizing?
The 2 boot shapes doesn’t affect sizing and following True’s sizing chart is the way to go for that as it is spot on. I will talk more about the boot shapes when I do the comparison review between the L95 and PX4 pads here.
