The Bauer Vapor Hyperlite hockey gloves are bad… and review shows why

Bauer at one point was the leader in retail hockey gloves, where their retail offerings were so close to the pro stock glove that the NHL players wore, that I would easily recommend just grabbing the retail offerings. Unfortunately that is the case with the Bauer Vapor Hyperlite gloves and in this review I’ll outline why.

You can check out the video review of the Bauer Vapor Hyperlite gloves here.

Bauer gloves have gone downhill since the Supreme 2S Pro and the Vapor 1X Lite gloves, so I decided to compare the Vapor Hyperlites to older retail Vapor gloves (APX 2 Pro) and Vapor pro stock gloves in the 1X Pro and the 1X Pro Lite.

Bauer continues to aim for marketing points and keeps removing plastics in their top end glove, which reduces the protection but allows them to say they have the lightest gloves on the market. They have also removed licensed foams and materials (37.5 and PoronXRD), as well as removing features like their 3 piece thumb. These changes allow them to lower their costs while increasing the base price on the gloves

I really hope people start to recognize that the retail glove offerings from Sherwood, Warrior, True, and CCM are considerably better than the top end offerings from Bauer. While Bauer’s “price point” gloves (3X Pro) offer a better protection package than these Hyperlites do, they are still a downgrade from the Poron lined gloves of the past and are missing features like the SHOCKLite backhand shot blocker.
